Another container ship has spilled up to 750 boxes into the sea, just weeks after the ONE Apus lost some 1,900.
Maersk Essen, on route from Xiamen to Los Angeles, and carrying up to 13,092 TEUs, lost a “very significant number of containers overboard in the Pacific Ocean on 16 January”, according to W K Webster, reportedly during severe weather.
According to FleetMon, up to 100 drifting containers are drifting northwest of Honolulu.
