India invites EoI to build transhipment port in Great Nicobar Island

The Indian Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways has invited expressions of interest (EoI) from companies to build an international transhipment port at Galathea Bay of Great Nicobar Island.

The project is expected to be built with an investment of approximately Rs410bn ($5bn).

This investment will come from the government and public private partnership (PPP) concessionaire.

The proposed port will have a capacity to handle 16 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs).
