Transfar Shipping, the shipping affiliate of Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba, will sell slots on its China-US West Coast/Mexico service to BAL Container Line, a privately owned Chinese liner operator.

BAL Container Line-operated vessel stalls en route to Ningbo

A container ship operated by China’s BAL Container Line on the Transpacific route suffered engine failure while en route to Ningbo, China from Los Angeles, US.

The 5,053 TEU CSL Santa Maria stalled off Japan’s Oki Island and had to be towed to Yeosu, South Korea, for repairs.

BAL Container Line adds Manzanillo port call on China-Mexico service

The Chinese carrier BAL Container Line has added a port call at Manzanillo on its China – Mexico (CMX) service, which links the two countries.

Contecon Manzanillo (CMSA), a Mexican subsidiary of International Container Terminal Services (ICTSI) that operates the Second Specialized Container Terminal at the Port of Manzanillo, received the first call of the CMX service on 16 December.

BAL Container Line expands portfolio with Vietnam service

BAL Container Line, which recently became more active as a liner operator from a tonnage provider, has expanded its portfolio with a China-Vietnam service.

BAL Container Line ventures into long-haul lanes

BAL Container Line, a privately owned China-based carrier, has become the latest entrant into the Transpacific and Asia-Europe lanes, attracted by the unprecedented hike in freight rates.
