What happened?

A Chief Officer of a bulk carrier died after he fell into a hold, while supervising hold cleansing works. 

Tragic accident occurred on Apr 12. The bulk carrier was under way in the Atlantic, en route from Matadi, Democratic Republic of Congo, to Brazil.

Duo Fined $17K for Putting Crewman’s Safety at Risk

  • Ship captain and chief officer of a cargo ship were fined $17k. after crewman’s safety was put at risk.
  • The crewman was sent in cargo hold despite no atmospheric testing.
