The massive backlog of reefer containers at Chinese gateway ports has begun to clear, according to carriers and ports in the region.
French carrier CMA CGM today announced it was cancelling its port congestion surcharge on reefer shipments to the Chinese ports of Shanghai and Ningbo.

Spot rates soar as shipping resumes, but don’t take advantage, carriers warned

The newest member of the Federal Maritime Commission (FMC), Carl W Bentzel (pictured above), has warned transpacific carriers against hiking freight rates unfairly, as the supply chain begins to free-up in China.

Australian box depots ease payment terms for cash-strapped operators

Australia’s empty container depots – and at least one major stevedore – have agreed to extended payment terms for cash-strapped transport operators.
