DP World terminals in UK achieve record container numbers

DP World saw a 5% rise in the box volumes of its two hubs in the United Kingdom last year, with London Gateway increasing its volumes by 14% to more than 2 million TEUs and Southampton reporting around 1.8 million TEUs.

DP World starts new berth construction at London Gateway

DP World UK has confirmed the launch of the construction works on a new berth at London Gateway.

The new berth will be the fourth one at London Gateway and will be all-electric, according to DP World.

DP World UK handled a record cargo volume of 3,675,952 TEU in 2021, while the terminal operator completed major investments in capability and capacity.

DP World’s London Gateway saw a container throughput of more than 1.8 million TEU in 2021, an increase of 15% over the previous year, while DP World Southampton, Britain’s second-largest container terminal, exceeded 1.87 million TEU, which contributed to the record combined total.

Port of Southampton receives new hybrid equipment, as part of DP World’s massive investment

DP World UK has confirmed that 11 Kalmar’s straddle carriers have arrived at the Port of Southampton and will be put into operation immediately.

According to the global port and terminal operator, the new hybrid carriers use 20% less fuel than their diesel-electric counterparts.
