Port of New Orleans’ container-on-barge service has record year

In 2023, the Port of New Orleans (Port NOLA) recorded 20,500 container moves through its container-on-barge service, the most since the program began in 2016.

SEC backs off on requiring companies to report scope 3 emissions

California legislator has a fix for the flaws in problematic CARB harbor craft regulations

California state assemblymember Dr. Jasmeet Bains (D-Delano) is moving to rectify problems in California Air Resources Board (CARB) harbor craft regulations slammed as “unworkable” and “deeply flawed” by the American Waterways Operators (AWO), even before they went into force. AWO noted that, among other things, the CARB emission regulation mandates engine technology that is not available and is not certified as safe by the U.S. Coast Guard.

ConMet acquires maker of tractor-trailer gap-closing TruckWings

Tractor-trailer parts and components maker ConMet has acquired Truck Labs, the inventor of gap-closing TruckWings that create fuel savings through aerodynamics.

Truck Labs, founded in 2014 as XStream, will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Vancouver, Washington-based ConMet. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Becoming part of a major supplier could help Truck Labs move into OEM factories after operating mostly in the aftermarket.
