Passenger ship fire in engine room, Chittagong

Fire erupted in engine room of passenger ship BAY ONE shortly after midnight Feb 25, 16 nm south of Chittagong, Bangladesh. The ship left Chittagong with some 1,000 passengers on board, bound for St Martin’s island, Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh. Fire was extinguished by crew, several crew said to suffer injures. BAY ONE was disabled, tug called for assistance, the ship returned to Chittagong, probably under own power, escorted by tug.
