Tornado threat rising as storms approach South

Truckers need to be on high alert across several Southern states as the threat for tornadoes increases.

Severe storms began Tuesday night in the Plains, stretching from Texas to Iowa. The National Weather Service received more than 30 hail and wind damage reports across the region but no tornado reports.

Tornado threat returns to South after deadly storms last week

For the second week in a row, truckers will face another threat of tornadoes in the Plains and South as an approaching system intensifies. 

Last week, more than 50 tornadoes hit from Texas to the Carolinas, including a deadly EF3 tornado just east of downtown New Orleans. This next round of severe storms may also contain strong tornadoes.

Flood threat rising across drought-stricken Southeast

Truckers heading to drought-stricken parts of the Southeast will run into frequent downpours the rest of this week.

While heavy thunderstorms are expected to produce beneficial rain, including in parts of Florida that have been dealing with recent wildfires, the storms will also bring the risk of flooding.

Hawaii’s governor has declared a state of emergency as a major storm has left thousands of customers without electricity and continues to produce potentially “catastrophic flooding.”
