China continues to gain significant shares in global ports

In October this year, Cosco Shipping confirmed the acquisition of shares valued at just less than 25% in Container Terminal Tollerort in the Port of Hamburg, Germany. The company originally expected to gain a 35% stake, but the federal government decided on 24.9%.

Amogy hires former Yara director to lead Scandinavia operations

Ammonia power solutions specialist Amogy has announced the opening of a new regional office in Norway, with the hiring of Christian W. Berg as managing director of Amogy Norway.

Berg’s most recent position was director of business development for Yara Clean Ammonia, a subsidiary of leading global ammonia producer, Yara International.

Drifting naval mines represent a threat to maritime traffic operating in the southwest region of the Black Sea, according to the NATO Shipping Centre (NSC), which earlier this month was moved to issue a direct warning to vessels transiting the area, with numerous instances recorded.

In May, the Port of Antwerp-Bruges announced it had ordered the construction of the world’s first hydrogen-powered tugboat. The Hydrotug, which burns hydrogen and diesel together, has been described as an “ultra-low emission” vessel. It comes as part of a broader effort to green operations at the port.
