HHI Announces Hydrogen Roadmap As Its Goal

  • South Korean shipbuilder Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) has partnered with nine companies.
  • It includes state-run Korea National Oil Corporation (KNOC), on a green hydrogen factory project in the Sea of Japan.
  • The deal will see the partners aim to set up and operate a 1.2 GW green hydrogen plant powered by a floating offshore wind farm in the Sea of Japan by 2025.

Wan Hai orders nine neo-Panamaxes from HHI

Wan Hai Lines has ordered nine 13,000TEU ships from South Korean ship builder Hyundai Heavy Industries.

The Taiwanese liner operator said in a Taiwan Stock Exchange filing on 10 March 2021 that the total contract value is TW$29.25 billion (US$1.04 billion). The newbuildings are expected to be delivered in 2023.

KR Revises Structural Rules for LNG Carriers

Classification society Korean Register (KR) revises existing structural rules for membrane-type LNG carriers, says an article published in Riviera Maritime Media.

About the new structural rule

The new rules have been developed to fully comply with the existing IGF code and cover LNG carriers from 210,000 m3 to 266,000 m3(Q-Max) by analysing and reflecting the motion characteristics of the vessels.

ONE charters neo-Panamaxes from Zodiac

Pan-Japanese liner operator Ocean Network Express (ONE) is chartering four 15,000TEU newbuildings from Eyal Ofer’s Zodiac Maritime, which began taking delivery of the ships from Hyundai Heavy Industries early in September 2020.
