An unprecedented ransomware attack has blown India’s Jawaharlal Nehru Port Container Terminal’s (JNPCT’s) management information system (MIS). JNPCT is one of the top five marine facilities in Nhava Sheva, India’s prime container gateway of JNPT.

India: JNPT Records 40.40% Growth In Container Traffic In First Half Of FY 21-22

Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT), one of India’s premier container ports, handled 2,703,051 TEUs during the first half of this financial year, against 1,925,284 TEUs, which is 40.40% higher than the container traffic over the same period of last year. A consignment of about three tonnes of heroin allegedly from Afghanistan with a net worth exceeding Rs 19,000 crore has been confiscated from the Mundra port in Gujarat, India.

Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT), one of the premier container handling ports, witnessed an upswing in cargo handling and recorded a throughput of 453,105 TEUs in August 2021, a growth of 28.45% as compared to 352,735 TEUs in the same month last year. NSIGT handled 98,473 TEUs in August-2021, which is highest ever TEUs handled since its inception.

On 15.08.2021, the V.O. Chidambaranar Port created a new record by unloading 57,090 Tonnes of Coal in 24 hours, at Berth No.9 from the vessel, ‘M.V. Star Laura, surpassing the earlier record of 56,687 tonnes of Coal handled at Berth No.9, from the vessel ‘M.V. Ocean Dream’ on 27.10.2020.
