Cargo activity through Jacksonville’s seaport positively impacts tens of thousands of jobs and supports nearly $31.1 billion in annual economic output for the region and state, according to a newly released study. According to a new study by maritime research firm Martin Associates, the Jacksonville Port Authority’s cargo activity provides tens of thousands of jobs. The study focuses on impacts arising from marine cargo handled at the public and private marine facilities for 2018.

JAXPORT achieves new container and auto records

The Jacksonville Port Authority (JAXPORT) has achieved a record number of container and auto moves during the first three quarters of fiscal year 2019. During this time, JAXPORT moved about one million containers, a 6% increase over the same period last year.

The port also moved approximately 535,000 auto units in this period, an increase of 7% over the same time in FY18. JAXPORT’s fiscal year runs Oct. 1 – Sept. 30.

JAXPORT welcomes Carnival Ecstasy to Jacksonville

JAXPORT leadership welcomed the Carnival Ecstasy on May 16 to Jacksonville for the vessel’s inaugural sailing with a commemorative plaque presentation at the JAXPORT Cruise Terminal in North Jacksonville.

On 16 May, JAX LNG, a liquefied natural gas facility located at Dames Point in Jacksonville, Florida, held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to signify the official start-up of the newly constructed plant. Flagler County joins Florida’s Trade Zone

The Jacksonville Port Authority (JAXPORT) announced on May 23, 2019 that Flagler County (FL) has joined Northeast Florida’s Foreign Trade Zone No. 64.
