16 states file suit challenging pause on LNG export permits

Led by Louisiana General Attorney General Liz Murrill, the attorneys general of 16 states have filed suit in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Louisiana challenging the pause on pending approvals of LNG export projects announced by the Biden administration in January.

Attorney General Murrill calls that move an “unlawful decision to ban new liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports.”

BNSF lists sites in Iowa, Kansas as primed for industrial development

Western U.S. Class I railroad BNSF has added two sites in Iowa and one in Kansas to its certified sites program, which designates areas along BNSF’s network that are primed for industrial development.

Gatik and Walmart to expand autonomous truck partnership to Kansas

Just five days after Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly signed into law a bill approving driverless vehicles, Gatik and Walmart announced on Thursday plans to deploy autonomous trucks in the state.

Kelly signed Senate Bill 313 into law last Friday. It had passed the Kansas House on a 75-44 vote and the Senate 23-17. The law was backed by both Gatik and Walmart (NYSE: WMT). Kansas is the 25th state to pass legislation that enables fully autonomous vehicles to operate on public roads.

Western U.S. railroad BNSF (NYSE: BRK) is reducing headcount by 104 employees at its locomotive shop in Topeka, Kansas.

Kansas eyes regulations governing train crew size

The Kansas Department of Transportation is proposing to require trains to have at least two crew members in the control compartment of the train’s lead locomotive unit.
