Kenan Advantage Group acquires plastic resins hauler

Kenan Advantage Group (KAG) said Monday it has acquired Northern Dry Bulk for an undisclosed amount.

Clare, Michigan-based Northern Dry Bulk primarily hauls and stores plastic resins used in the automotive, packaging and electronics industries. The carrier serves the U.S. and Canada out of two terminals with a fleet of 36 tractors and 91 trailers.

The company’s drivers, technicians and operations staff will now be part of KAG.

KAG Logistics expands 3PL platform through Connectrans deal

Kenan Advantage Group (KAG) subsidiary KAG Logistics (KAGL) announced Wednesday the acquisition of Canadian 3PL Connectrans Logistics. 

Financial terms of the transaction were not provided.

Based in the Toronto area, Connectrans specializes in U.S.-Canada cross-border freight transportation, including truckload (dry van, temperature control and flatbed), less-than-truckload and intermodal freight, through a network of carriers.

Sale of Kenan Advantage reportedly eyed by pension fund

The private equity arm of the Canadian pension fund OMERS is considering selling Kenan Advantage Group in a deal that could bring in $2.5 billion or more for the tank truck carrier, Bloomberg reported Tuesday, citing anonymous sources. 

OMERS Private Equity, which acquired Kenan in 2015, declined to comment on the report. But Kenan could attract significant interest from private equity firms and large transportation and logistics companies.

Kenan Advantage Group acquires Canada’s Beaulac Transport

Kenan Advantage Group (KAG) has acquired Quebec-based tank truck carrier Les Distributions Carl Beaulac (Beaulac Transport), expanding the U.S. company’s footprint in eastern Canada.

The acquisition adds almost 80 tractors, 100 drivers and two facilities to Ohio-based KAG’s existing Canadian subsidiary, Westcan Bulk Transport. Beaulac specializes in transporting petroleum, chemicals, aggregates and hot products.
