Maersk collaborating on e-methanol plant in Asia

Maersk and five other companies are partnering to create an e-methanol plant in Asia.

Six companies in the shipping and energy industry signed a memorandum of understanding on Wednesday to establish “Asia’s first green e-methanol plant,” which will convert captured biogenic carbon dioxide and green hydrogen into methanol.

Biogenic carbon dioxide is emitted as organic matter decomposes. Green hydrogen, the other input to e-methanol, is produced by splitting water into hydrogen and oxygen using electrolyzers powered by renewable energy.

Maersk joins SteelZero initiative

A.P. Moller – Maersk will join Climate Group SteelZero, a global initiative that brings together organisations to accelerate the transition to a net-zero steel industry, in partnership with Responsible Steel.

Danish seafaring union set to take Maersk to court over shore leave

Danish seafarers’ union Metal Maritime’s shore leave dispute with compatriot shipping giant AP Moller Maersk could end up in the Labour Court, after both sides’ attempts at mediation failed.

2M Alliance’s Eagle/TP1 service returns to Seattle

2M Alliance, comprising Maersk and Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), has announced that it will reinstate Seattle calls on its Eagle/TP1 service, connecting East Asia with America’s West Coast.

Hence, after the announcement of the omission of Seattle in October, “due to increased waiting time for vessel berthing,” 2M has now decided to restart calls at the US port, with the first sailing being Maersk Seville on voyage 214N, estimated to depart Kaohsiung on 10 April.

Inspections of Maersk-operated Dyros underway in Mexico

Inspections of the Maersk-operated vessel Dyros, which lost more than 90 containers in the North Pacific Ocean on 21 March, are already underway at the port of Lazaro Cardenas, Mexico, where the vessel arrived on 3 April.
