Port of Antwerp-Bruges and Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on 21 March to collaborate on maritime decarbonisation and digitalisation.

Crew injured in unauthorised boarding of chemical tanker in Singapore Strait

A seafarer has been reported injured in an anauthorised boarding incident of a chemical tanker in the Singapore Strait.

Shell’s Singapore refinery suffers second oil leak in two months

Yet another oil spill has affected oil major Shell’s refinery in Singapore. A joint statement from the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), National Environment Agency (NEA), National Parks Board (NParks) and Sentosa Development Corporation (SDC) said that a processing unit that produces diesel at Shell’s Pulau Bukom refinery has been shut down to facilitate investigations. MPA Singapore evaluates strategies to expand LNG bunkering capabilities

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) has launched an Expression of Interest (EOI) to explore scalable solutions for sea-based liquefied natural gas (LNG) reloading to complement the existing onshore LNG bunkering storage and jetty capacities and the supply of e/bio-methane as marine fuel in the Port of Singapore.

LNG bunkering in Singapore has grown from 16,000 tonnes delivered in 2022 to over 385,000 tonnes delivered from January to October 2024.

The Rotterdam-Singapore Green and Digital Shipping Corridor (GDSC) partners successfully conducted a pilot project for the bunkering of mass-balanced liquefied bio-methane (LBM) at the Port of Rotterdam on 19 October.

MPA Singapore completes clean-up of Shell’s leaked slop

Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) announced that the clean-up of Shell’s leaked slop in the channel between Pulau Bukom and Bukom Kechil, including the cleaning of the oil-stained rock bunds and infrastructure, has been completed.

MPA reported there have been no other oil sightings at sea and ashore since 20 October 2024 when Shell first reported the leak. Additionally, there are also no oil sightings arising from the separate oil overflow bunkering incident on 28 October off Changi.
