Mays Chemical selects Red TMS, saves $100,000 in transportation costs

Several years ago, Mays Chemical, a midsized national distributor of food chemicals and raw materials, found itself at an increasingly common crossroads. Its transportation manager was set to retire, taking with her that hard-earned and hard-to-transfer tribal knowledge about the ins and outs of Mays’ supply chain.

At the crossroads of legacy processes and the digital freight market, Mays had three full-time employees in the transportation department who each managed $1 million in freight spend...

The introduction of 5G — alongside widespread adoption of 4G LTE-enabled devices — has prompted major players to shut down older networks. Companies relying on older cellular networks, including 3G, CDMA and 2G, to run their remote monitoring and telematics applications will soon start to experience performance issues and reliability drops ahead of widespread network shutdowns.

As 3G support is phased out, companies operating devices that utilize 2G or 3G and are not compatible with 4G LTE...

Frustrated with brokers and carriers being looted by a sophisticated network of load-board scammers posing as legitimate companies, Joe Howard created a spreadsheet to track a list of suspect companies, largely based in Southern California, to warn others to do their due diligence or pay the price.

When he started the project two years ago, Howard, who works for a Midwestern logistics company that...
