Cargo volumes rise at the Port of Baku

Baku International Sea Trade Port CJSC (Port of Baku) has seen a significant increase of 21% in total cargo volumes during the first nine months.

In particular, almost 4.3 million tons of cargo were transported in the Azerbaijani port during this period, while the correspondent figure last year was approximately 3.5 million tons.

At the same time, there was an increase in the number of containers transported during the first three quarters of the year in the Port of Baku, which reached 30,774TEU.

Baku Port enjoys 2019 record results

Baku International Sea Trade Port CJSC (Port of Baku) increased its cargo volumes by 7,2% in 2019 compared to 2018 (3.787 million tonnes) reaching 4.06 million tonnes. The majority of the total cargo, that is 84.8% (3.44 million tonnes) was transit freight.

Containers and wheeled vehicles were at their highest levels for 28 years with Baku handling 35,152 TEU, a 53.6% increase compared to the previous year (in 2018 this figure was 22,887 TEU).

Baku port inks deal with European logistics hub
