COSCO Shipping Aries to call at Port of Genoa marking another milestone

During the inaugural journey of COSCO Shipping Aries in 2018, this ultra-large container vessel became the first 20,000 TEU class ship from China to call HHLA Container Terminal Tollerort (CTT) in Hamburg, Germany.

Italian police seizes 400 kilos of cocaine from MSC container ship

More than 400 kilograms of cocaine have been seized from the 2013-built container ship MSC Adelaide in Genoa, Italy.

The street value of the substance seized is estimated to be around US$34.3 million. According to local media, the boxship arrived in Port Genoa on 6 January with the narcotics stashed in fourteen suitcases within a container and was deemed inactive by authorities when port personnel from the Compagnia Unica Lavoratori Merci Varie (CULMV) union arrived to collect the shipment.

Ports of Genoa set new box volume records in 2021

The Italian ports of Genoa, Savona and Vado Ligure set a new annual record in container traffic, handling more than 2,781,000 TEU in 2021, which is an increase of 11.3% over the previous year and 4.2% compared to the pre-pandemic year of 2019.

Total cargo throughput rose by 10.3% year-on-year at the three Italian ports, which exceeded 64,485,100 tonnes. Western Ligurian Sea Port Authority noted that this performance was achieved despite the ongoing disruptions to the global supply chain.

Konecranes to equip Italian terminal

The Finnish port equipment manufacturer Konecranes has secured a repeat order from Terminal San Giorgio (TSG) in the port of Genoa with an eco-efficient Gottwald ESP.8 Mobile Harbor Crane.

Costa Cruises signs ‘Genoa Blue Agreement’ for Ports of Genoa and Savona

Costa Cruises has signed the ‘Genoa Blue Agreement’ promoted by the Genoa and Savona Coast Guard Offices.
