The Port of New Orleans (Port NOLA) was awarded US$1 million from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for its Louisiana International Terminal (LIT) Sustainability Management Plan (SMP).

Port of New Orleans secures over US$1 million grant to enhance security and emergency response capabilities

The Port of New Orleans (Port NOLA) has received US$1,040,583 in funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) Port Security Grant Program.

This grant will fund significant physical and technological enhancements, aimed at bolstering the Harbor Police Department’s (HPD) surveillance capabilities and providing essential equipment for emergency response.

Governor Jeff Landry recently appointed Michael A. Thomas as Chairman of the Board of Commissioners for the Port of New Orleans (Port NOLA) for a five-year term.

Port of New Orleans resumes operations after Hurricane Francine

The Port of New Orleans (Port NOLA) and the New Orleans Public Belt (NOPB) have resumed all normal operations following Hurricane Francine.

“Preliminary damage assessments showed no significant damage to port facilities or infrastructure,” said Port NOLA in a statement.

Port NOLA reports box volume record

Last month, the Port of New Orleans (Port NOLA) reported record container growth, handling a total of 133,845 TEUs during the third quarter of fiscal year 2024, marking a 19% increase year-over-year and achieving the highest quarterly container volume since the supply chain challenges of 2021.
