Coast Guard removes protesters from RRF ship Cape Orlando

Coast Guard Sector San Francisco watchstanders received a report of a demonstration happening within the Oakland Harbor near a vessel, the MARAD Ready Reserve Force (RRF) RO/RO ship Cape Orlando, around 8:30 a.m., Friday.

According to the San Franciso Chronicle, the protest was against Israeli military actions in Gaza and the protestors believed the Cape Orlando was headed for Israel after a stop in Tacoma, Wash.

Airbus opts for e-methanol and rotor sails for new transatlantic trio

Looking to reduce its carbon footprint, Airbus is to renew it entire fleet of vessels chartered in from France’s Louis Dreyfus Armateurs (LDA) to transport aircraft subassemblies between Saint-Nazaire, France, and its single-aisle aircraft final assembly line in Mobile, Ala.

It has commissioned Louis Dreyfus to build own and operate three new RO/RO vessels. Set to enter service in 2026, each will be fitted with six rotor sails and two dual-fuel engines operating on diesel fuel and e-methanol....

U.S. Coast Guard Southeast reports that crews responding to the Bonnie G grounding incident conducted successful salvage and dive operations over this past weekend off Cyril E. King Airport, in Saint Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands.

The 195-foot Vanuatu-flagged RO/RO cargo vessel, originally delivered in 1981 as an OSV and managed by West Palm Beach, Fla., based MMS Americas LLC., grounded there October 4 during Tropical Storm Philippe, when all 12 people on board had to be rescued.
