USCG sets minimum random drug testing rate at 50% for 2020

The US Coast Guard has set the calendar year 2020 minimum random drug testing rate at 50% of covered crew members. The minimum random drug testing rate is effective from 1st January 2020 through 31st December 2020.

The Coast Guard requires marine employers to establish random drug testing programs for covered crewmembers in accordance with 46 CFR 16.230.

Nine seafarers stranded in UK to be repatriated for Christmas

Nine Russian seafarers stranded in Portland after their ship was detained by UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) in November will all be repatriated by Christmas, according to international maritime charity Sailors’ Society.
