New leadership in place at Hanwha Philly Shipyard

Korea’s Hanwha Group formally completed its $100 million acquisition of what is now Hanwha Philly Shipyard on December 19, 2024. New leadership is now in place, with David Kim taking the role of CEO to guide the shipyard through the transition. Derek Murphy named VP new construction carriers at NNS

HII (NYSE: HII) reports that Derek Murphy has been promoted to vice president of new construction aircraft carriers at its Newport News Shipbuilding division.

In his new role, Murphy will have responsibility for all new construction aircraft carriers in production at the shipyard, including John F. Kennedy (CVN 79), Enterprise (CVN 80) and Doris Miller (CVN 81).
