Soren Toft starts ceo role at MSC

Former Maersk coo Toft will oversee MSC’s global cargo businesses including ocean liner and logistics, and be a member of the board of directors of Terminal Investment Ltd (TiL). Toft’s appointment to the role of ceo was announced by MSC in November 2019 shortly after a surprise announcement that he was quitting Maersk.

He will report directly to Diego Aponte, MSC Group President, and Gianluigi Aponte, Founder and MSC Group Chairman.

XPO Logistics Plans to Split Into Two Companies

XPO Logistics Inc. plans to split into two by spinning off its logistics business in a tax-free transaction that will create a separate publicly traded company.

“By uncoupling our transportation and logistics segments, we intend to create two high-performing, pure-play companies to serve the best interests of all our stakeholders,” Brad Jacobs, chairman and chief executive officer of XPO Logistics, said in a Dec. 2 statement.

Manufacturing growth remains intact in November, reports ISM

Manufacturing growth remained intact in November, for the sixth consecutive month, according to data issued today by the Institute for Supply Management (ISM).

n its monthly Manufacturing Report on Business, ISM said that the report’s key metric, the PMI, came in at 57.5 (a reading of 50 or higher indicates growth), which was 1.8% below October’s 59.3, while the overall economy expanded for the seventh consecutive month.

UK companies remain positive despite supply chain concerns

In a report conducted by HSBC tohe company reports that over two thirds of UK companies are maintaining positivity when it comes to international trade for the next two years, despite the challenges faced due to COVID-19.

The bank’s latest ‘HSBC Navigator’ report surveyed over 10,000 companies in 39 markets. Of those 10,000, 1,000 were from the UK.
