Svitzer plans to field test methanol-fueled MAN 175D in new tug

MAN Energy Solutions and Svitzer have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) focused on developing a methanol-fueled version of the MAN 175D engine, designated the175DF-M (Dual Fuel-Methanol). The MoU targets finalization of a field-test agreement tnat will see a dual-fuel engine and plant equipment will be installed on board one of Svitzer’s newbuild tugs.

Maersk initiates demerger and separate listing of Svitzer

The Board of Directors of A.P. Møller – Mærsk (APMM) has decided to initiate the separation of the company’s towage and marine services activities through a demerger.

As part of the demerger, the shares in Svitzer A/S and its subsidiaries as well as certain other related assets and liabilities will be contributed by APMM to a new legal entity under the name of Svitzer Group A/S, the shares of which are expected to be admitted for trading and official listing on Nasdaq Copenhagen A/S.

Svitzer’s U.K. operation takes delivery of Svitzer Estelle

The Maersk group’s towage operator Svitzer has taken delivery of Svitzer Estelle, the second Robert Allan Ltd. designed RAstar 3200W tug built for Svitzer’s European operations by Turkey’s Uzmar Shipyards. It will be deployed in the U.K., on the River Thames and the River Medway, bolstering the company’s operations in the Port of London. The first Uzmar-built tug to be part of Svitzer’s European fleet, Svitzer Elizabeth, is also currently in service in the U.K., in the Port of Liverpool.
