Outsized air cargo specialist Volga-Dnepr Airlines said Tuesday it has restarted commercial flights with one of its An-124 heavy loaders one month after grounding the fleet as a safety precaution in response to an accident.

Russian all-cargo carrier Volga-Dnepr Airlines said Friday it has temporarily suspended all commercial flights with ultra-large Antonov-124-100 freighters until the investigation into the cause of an accident two weeks ago is complete.

An-124 mega freighter overshoots runway in emergency landing

Russian all-cargo airline Volga-Dnepr Group confirmed Friday that a massive An-124-100 freighter made an emergency landing and rolled off the runway after experiencing technical issues on takeoff and returning to the airport in Novosibirsk, Russia. None of the 14 crew members were injured.

The plane was operating under a charter from Seoul, South Korea, to Vienna, with 84 tons of automotive spare parts and made a technical stop in Novosibirsk.

Volga-Dnepr Airlines delivers equipment to fight California wildfires

Russian air freight specialist Volga-Dnepr Airlines has delivered a load of firefighting vehicles to California. They arrived on an An-124-100 charter flight for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to assist firefighting missions in California. Deadly wildfires have been burning there for weeks — even months in some cases.

LATAM lands Brazil’s last COVID-19 emergency air bridge flight

LATAM Airlines Group (NYSE: LTM) said this week it has landed its last flight of a three-month “air bridge” between China and Brazil to transport much needed protective face masks to fight the coronavirus pandemic in the South American country.

The Chilean carrier flew 39 flights from China transporting 240 million N95 surgical masks under contract with Brazil’s Ministry of Infrastructure. The project marked the first time LATAM Group aircraft have operated in China.
