A general cargo ship carrying clinker onboard sank on Nov 6 in Quang Nam Province waters, South China sea, reports Maritime Bulletin.

What happened?

General cargo ship THANH HUNG sank in the evening Nov 6 in Quang Nam Province waters, central Vietnam, South China sea. She was loaded with some 5,300 tons of clinker.

It was reported that the ship suffered water ingress via faulty ventilation pipes, developed a portside list and capsized.

Water Ingress Reported on Ageing FSO

  • Water ingress has been reported on an ageing FSO off Venezuela which is carrying 173,000 tons of oil onboard.
  • Eudis Girot, who heads a local trade union covering the petroleum industries, cited the poor maintenance onboard the FSO Nabarima, causing the water ingress.
