Safe Bulkers expands Japanese Kamsarmax portfolio with new purchase

Safe Bulkers has reached an agreement to purchase a Japanese Kamsarmax dry-bulk vessel for an undisclosed sum.

The 81,800 deadweight ton (DWT) newbuild ship is expected to be delivered in the second quarter of 2025.

In order to lower greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) according to International Maritime Organisation (IMO) goals, the vessel is designed to comply with the Phase 3 norms of the Energy Efficiency Design Index.
