L’Allemagne perd un tiers de sa flotte marchande

En six ans, la flotte commerciale allemande est passée de 3800 à 2400 navires, pour un tonnage en baisse de 25%. Parallèlement, la part de l’Allemagne dans les commandes de nouveaux navires est passée de 26% en 2008 à 2.3%.

Cette réduction spectaculaire de la flotte serait due au désengagement des banques allemandes suite à de nombreux cas de KG devenus insolvables. Le KG (ou Kommanditgesellschaft) est un véhicule de financement de navires en partenariat propre à l’Allemagne impliquant des capitaux particuliers ou issus de l’épargne.

Ces ventes massives de navires parfois à très bon marché ferait suite à la baisse des taux de fret ayant entraîné une incapacité à couvrir les intérêts et les remboursements de capital, et au manque de financement des navires par de grandes banques allemandes elles-mêmes affectées par une importante dette toxique.
