The Pacific Merchant Shipping Association (PMSA) reports that emissions from the combined San Pedro Bay ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles continue to decline as a result of marine terminal, ocean carrier and industry partner investments in cleaner equipment and technologies, including operational changes, to improve air quality in Southern California, according to two new reports released by the ports. Climate coalition calls for Ikea to ‘abandon dirty ships’ by 2030

Ship It Zero calls on Ikea to reach zero-emissions shipping by 2030.

Climate and health coalition Ship It Zero is calling on Ikea to transition to zero-emissions shipping by 2030. The coalition delivered a petition signed by nearly 20,000 shoppers to the company’s Delft, Netherlands, headquarters Thursday, urging Ikea to “abandon dirty ships.”

Ship It Zero is led by environmental organizations Pacific Environment and Stand.earth. It also targeted Walmart, Amazon and Target for their contributions to climate change and air pollution through shipping.

Large wildfires still burning millions of acres out West

Dozens of large wildfires are still scorching land in more than a dozen states across the country. Eleven of these states are in the West.

Oregon’s Bootleg fire burning out of control

Officials say the Bootleg fire, the largest wildfire in the country, may not be fully contained until the fall.
