Last week, APM Terminals Lazaro Cardenas in Mexico welcomed the first call of Hapag-Lloyd’s East Coast 2 (EC2) service, marked by the arrival of the UMM SALAL.

APM Terminals invests US$140 million in Mexican terminal expansion

APM Terminals Lazaro Cardenas has begun the construction of its Phase II US$140 million expansion.

APM Terminals said this project aims to increase the capacity of the first semi-automated facility in Latin America with an additional one million TEUs and position the Mexican terminals as a hub for the Americas region.

With the expansion plans, the yard is expected to be increased by 157,000 m² and the terminal operating system will be upgraded to use Navis N4.
