Crew kidnapped from CMA CGM vessel in Gulf of Guinea

There are unconfirmed reports that up to nine crew have been kidnapped in a pirate attack on a container ship in the Gulf of Guinea, some 48nm southwest of Equatorial Guinea.

CMA CGM to launch Asia-West Africa service via Suez Canal

CMA CGM this month will launch a standalone Asia-West Africa service, the first in the trade to be routed via the Suez Canal on its headhaul voyages.

Rising low-sulphur fuel costs begin to bite shipping lines in Asia

Although the 1 January switch to maximum 0.5% low-sulphur fuel for shipping appears to have passed without major disruption, liner consultancy Alphaliner has reported instances of idle containerships waiting for compliant fuel.
