European maritime sector receives EU funding for a ‘SkillSea’ project for sectoral co-operation on maritime skills

The European Commission will co-finance the project ‘Futureproof Skills for the Maritime transport sector (SkillSea)’ as publicly announced at a signature ceremony hosted by the EU Transport Commissioner, Violeta Bulc, on 20 November 2018. The project aims to develop strategies to identify and meet the future skills needs of the maritime sector and attract greater numbers of Europeans to work in maritime industries. The four-year project will begin in January 2019.

Fisheries ministers disregard their legal obligation to end overfishing by 2020 in the deep sea

Brussels, 19th November 2018 – Seas At Risk is deeply disappointed by the decisions on fishing limits for deep sea fish stocks for 2019-2020 taken by the Fisheries’ Council of Ministers tonight. This was the very last opportunity fisheries ministers had to end overfishing of deep sea species by 2015 or at the latest by 2020, as legally required under the Common Fisheries Policy. ABPmer undertakes Port Marine Safety Code Assurance Audit in the Shetland Isles

Shetland Islands Council, in its role as Harbour Authority, recently contracted ABPmer to carry out an assurance audit of its compliance with the Port Marine Safety Code (PMSC).
