Too much capacity is being injected into the Transatlantic tradelane, suggesting rates are likely to topple. The Transatlantic’s high of full ships and strong rates in 2022 has started to slip due to overcapacity, as carriers redeploy tonnage into the trade from other areas, reports Riviera Maritime Media.

2M partners Maersk and MSC have extended the suspension of their TA4/NEUATL4 transatlantic loop through to September.
The service, which deploys five vessels with an average capacity of 5,300 teu and has a rotation of Antwerp-Rotterdam-Bremerhaven-Liverpool-New York-Savannah-Port Everglades-Savannah, was originally suspended until mid-June and to mid-July.

Transatlantic shippers are set to be hit by another wave of blank sailings this month after 2M partners Maersk and MSC announced that the suspension of the TA4/NEUTAL4 would be extended.
