Buy online, pick up in store (BOPIS) is steadily becoming a hallmark of flexible fulfillment for merchants. Enabling the option for customers, though, is easier said than done.

On Monday, e-commerce SaaS platform BigCommerce (NASDAQ: BIGC) launched its own BOPIS offering to make the process smoother for sellers. The offering relies on a set of new and updated APIs, which merchants can integrate into their e-commerce sites to manage pickup locations and inventory at the item level, all the way...

What made peak shipping season a success?

By all accounts, the 2021 holiday peak season avoided the shipping disasters of previous years. There were likely several reasons for this, including consumers shopping earlier than ever and a push by the delivery firms to hire seasonal personnel.

In fact, according to the founders of last-mile mapping firm Beans.ai, that last part played a significant role.

“The solution was money. The spike in both salaries and bonuses was motivating enough for people to join [as drivers],” Nitin Gupta, CEO of...

Consumer expectations are always changing, and whether it’s the shopper or the brand that leads the way depends on what is expected to change. Ship-from-store: A retail Rube Goldberg machine?

This is an excerpt from Thursday’s (4/8) Point of Sale retail supply chain newsletter sponsored by ArcBest.

In Point of Sale episode 8, BMO Senior Retail and Ecommerce Analyst Simeon Siegel, while detailing his admiration for off-price retailers, said, “The off-price business convinced shoppers to be their employees.” For the chance at discounted products, the customer supplies much of the labor necessary for an order to reach its destination.
