German Competition Authority Backs Reform Of Box Line Block Exemption

Germany’s competition authority, the Bundeskartellamt, has backed opponents of any plan to extend the box line block exemption (CBER) and said it should be reformed, or phased out. TotalEnergies and COSCO in box ship biofuel bunkering first

TotalEnergies Marine Fuels has completed its first bunkering of a containership in Singapore with sustainable marine biofuel. The operation, which involved the 4,250 TEU COSCO Houston, was also COSCO Shipping Lines’ first bunkering of a container vessel with biofuel.

The vessel was bunkered July 11 with TotalEnergies-supplied biofuel in Singapore waters, via ship-to-ship transfer.

With a whopping 24,116 TEU capacity, an apparently so-far unnamed box ship has been “undocked” by the Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding Group from the Changxing Shipbuilding base.

Performance Shipping Acquires 5th Aframax Tanker for $22m

Performance Shipping acquired the 2011-built (Sumitomo) aframax tanker Kalamas from Pleiades Shipping, reports Splash 247.

Vessel value and delivery

According to reports, Greek tanker owner Performance Shipping has paid $22m for the vessel, which has a $20.63m valuation. 

The delivery is scheduled for between November 15 and December 22. The premium in price reflects the vessel having completed its docking survey in July and special survey in October.

Owners of MV Jakarta confirmed that the vessel went aground on the eastern coast of Vietnam on 10 October, reports Maritime Bulletin.

NKD Maritime Limited, owners of MV Jakarta, confirm that during very heavy weather and sea conditions the vessel went aground on the eastern coast of Vietnam on 10 October.
