Three on rescue boat dead during Storm Miguel

According to local sources, three crewmembers of a rescue boat died after the vessel ran aground off the Western French coast during a rescue mission. Storm Miguel was raging over the Vendée coastline with gusts of up to 129 km/h.

Specifically, Patron Jacques Morisseau – SNS 061 of the SNSM-statin Sables-d’Olonne, had seven people onboard when she was called to rescue a 11.5-m-gillnetter Carrera at 1100 hours (local time) on June 7th.

MPA Singapore: Ocean Cooper 2 wreck not posing risk to navigation

In an official statement, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) announced that the wreck of the supply vessel ‘OCEAN COOPER 2’, which sank within Singapore Territorial Waters in February, does not pose a risk to navigation.

USCG in search of missing vessel off Canaveral

The US Coast Guard has initiated a research for a missing vessel, after a distress call on the afternoon hours of Sunday, east of Port Canaveral, Florida.

According to initial information provided by the USCG, the US Coast Guard Sector Jacksonville Command Center watchstanders received a distress call at 4 p.m. from a vessel.

People onboard stated they were caught in a storm and were in need of assistance.

Hamburg’s restored wooden ship sinks after collision with container ship

A recently restored wooden sailing ship sunk as it collided with a container ship in Hamburg. Because of the quick response of five rescue boats which where in the area when the accident happened, all 43 passengers were rescued.

The two ships collided on the River Elbe after a failed tack led the sailing ship into the container ship.

One dies after crane collapses on bulk carrier at Yangzijiang Shipbuilding

A crane collapsed at Yangzijiang Shipbuilding’s Yangzi Xinfu yard, on June 10, falling into a bulk carrier which was under construction at the time. The accident caused extensive damages to the ship, while two workers were injured, one of whom died.
