Austal USA, Mobile, Ala., hosted future USS Santa Barbara ship sponsor and keel authenticator, Lolita Zinke, recently at a keel laying ceremony for the 16th Independence variant Littoral Combat Ship (LCS). Zinke welded her initials into the ship’s keel plate officially authenticating that the keel of the future USS Santa Barbara (LCS 32) “has been truly and fairly laid”.

Coast Guard Sector Charleston change of command

The crew of Coast Guard Sector Charleston conducted a change of command ceremony Tuesday at Sector Charleston. During the ceremony, Capt. John Reed transferred command of Coast Guard Sector Charleston to Capt. John Cole.

Eastern Shipbuilding Group, Panama City, Fla., reports that the keel laying ceremony for the U.S. Coast Guard’s, first of class, 360’x54′ offshore patrol cutter (OPC) Argus (WMSM-915), was held on April 28, 2020 at Eastern’s Nelson Street facility. VT Halter hosts ceremony for Q-LNG’s new ATB

In November 2017, New Orleans-based Q-LNG Transport LLC awarded a contract to VT Halter Marine, Pascagoula, Miss., to build a first-of-its-kind (in the U.S.) liquid natural gas (LNG) articulated tug/barge (ATB) unit. Austal USA delivers 10th Expeditionary Fast Transport to Navy

Austal USA delivered the Expeditionary Fast Transport ship Burlington (EPF 10) to the U.S. Navy during a ceremony onboard the ship at the company’s headquarters in Mobile, Ala., Nov. 15. This is the fourth ship Austal has delivered to the Navy this year.
