Paducah, Ky., headquartered Crounse Corporation has recently taken delivery of the 6,034-horsepower towboat M/V Alice. Named after the company’s first vessel that began operating in 1949, the M/V Alice was constructed by Conrad Shipyard, LLC, headquartered in Morgan City, La., and was delivered with a U.S. Coast Guard Certificate of Inspection for Subchapter M compliance and EPA Tier 4 compliant main engines.

Conrad awarded $9.1 million USACE spud barge contract

Morgan City, La., headquartered shipbuilder Conrad Shipyard LLC, has been awarded a $9,106,800 firm-fixed-price contract to design, construct, test, and deliver a new steel spud barge. Bids were solicited via the internet with one received.

Work will be performed in Morgan City, with an estimated completion date of April 14, 2025. Fiscal 2023 Plant Replacement Improvement Program funds in the amount of $9,106,800 were obligated at the time of the award.

GLDD exercises option with Conrad for second TSHD

Houston-headquartered Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Corporation (NASDAQ:GLDD) has exercised a contract option to build a second 6,500-cubic-yard-capacity trailing suction hopper dredge (TSHD) at Conrad Shipyard in Amelia, La.

With expected delivery in the first quarter of 2025, the new vessel will be a sister ship to the Galveston Island, which is presently under construction at Conrad with delivery set for early 2023.
