Container Finance – CMA CGM agreement accepted

The combination agreement between Container Finance Ltd Oy and CMA CGM, signed on 20.6.2018, has been accepted unconditionally by all relevant competition authorities on 22.10.2018.

The combination is estimated to take place on 31.10.2018. Upon closing the agreement, Container Finance’s entire container logistics operations including Containerships plc, Multi-link Terminals Ltd and CD Holding Oy will integrate to CMA CGM’s intra-regional market offering in Europe and Mediterranean area.

Two Containerships’ vessels christened

Containerships’ third and fourth LNG-powered vessels were christened last week at the Wenchong Shipyard, China. The vessels received names M/S Containerships Finn and M/S Containerships Balt, honouring Containerships’ roots and history.

The christening of the last two vessels under construction was yet another milestone in the company’s LNG story. The ceremony was attended by Containerships’ Board members as well as the CEO Kari-Pekka Laaksonen.

Containerships launches a new weekly service

Containerships is happy to announce a new service to/from Kristiansand, Norway. The  service will be operated by its joint partner, Viasea, weekly, and it is available as from 8th October.

The Kristiansand service improves Containerships’ service coverage in Norway and enables the company to serve the southwestern part of the country with competitive leadtimes and rates. Door-to-door service is available. Below some port-to-port transit times regarding the new service:

HMM will receive 20 eco-friendly mega vessels

On September 28th, HMM signed the formal contracts for its twenty eco-friendly mega containerships with three shipyards – Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME), Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) and Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI).

DSME and SHI will build seven and five 23,000 TEU containerships, respectively, which are expected for delivery in the second quarter of 2020. HHI will construct eight 15,000 TEU containerships to be delivered in the second quarter of 2021.
