Thamesport’s sea role supported by Containerships

Hutchison Ports London Thamesport’s growing reputation as a short-sea container hub has been further enhanced by Helsinki-based Containerships plc’s introduction of a second weekly service from Gdynia, Poland.

Containerships has chosen the Kent based port for its second direct service to and from the southern part of the UK. The service offers regular and fast connections with Poland, with improved service and transit times from Gdynia of 3-4 days and 4-6 days for the return journey.

First Aloha-class ship delivered to Matson

The Daniel K. Inouye, the first of four new dual-fuel container ships for the U.S. Pacific Jones Act trade, was delivered Wednesday to Honolulu-based Matson Inc.

Christened June 30 at Philly Shipyard in Philadelphia, Pa., the 854’, 50,794 dwt vessel has 3,600 TEU container capacity and 408 reefer slots.

Container Finance – CMA CGM agreement accepted

The combination agreement between Container Finance Ltd Oy and CMA CGM, signed on 20.6.2018, has been accepted unconditionally by all relevant competition authorities on 22.10.2018.

The combination is estimated to take place on 31.10.2018. Upon closing the agreement, Container Finance’s entire container logistics operations including Containerships plc, Multi-link Terminals Ltd and CD Holding Oy will integrate to CMA CGM’s intra-regional market offering in Europe and Mediterranean area.

Two Containerships’ vessels christened

Containerships’ third and fourth LNG-powered vessels were christened last week at the Wenchong Shipyard, China. The vessels received names M/S Containerships Finn and M/S Containerships Balt, honouring Containerships’ roots and history.

The christening of the last two vessels under construction was yet another milestone in the company’s LNG story. The ceremony was attended by Containerships’ Board members as well as the CEO Kari-Pekka Laaksonen.
