Shipping lines to face fines for delays

Shipping lines may soon face fines for delays in the unloading of import containers, which spawn congestion at ports, the leader of a truckers’ group said Monday, March 4.

Truckers, after delivering shipments to warehouses, are supposed to return empty container vans to the shipping lines. Several firms, however, do not have enough container yards, said Mary Zapata, president of the Aduana Business Club Inc.

Delays in imports via Mombasa

According to Maersk’s announcement, the imports via Mombasa are delayed by 30 days or more for all Container lines calling, due to port constraints & vessel space limitation in Zanzibar.

Vessels across all carriers are experiencing the extended waiting time to berth to discharge/load cargo in Zanzibar.

Maersk says: “We are working closely with port authorities and we are doing our best to minimize the negative impact to you.”

CMA CGM updates Liberty Bridge service schedule

CMA CGM informs its customers that LIBERTY BRIDGE service vessels have been severely delayed due to bad weather crossing the Atlantic and congestion in both European and USEC ports experienced since the beginning of 2019.
