Geodis expands US workforce to meet peak season

Third-party logistics services provider (3PL) Geodis said it plans to hire up to 8,000 seasonal employees in the U.S. to handle an anticipated surge in freight volumes for the end-of-year holidays.

USPack acquires last-mile delivery, pool distribution firms

Last-mile logistics company USPack continued its mostly under-the-radar consolidation of its segment by acquiring Toledo, Ohio-based Freight Rite, a regional business-to-consumer (B2C) delivery provider.

At the same time, New York-based USPack acquired Gumro & Associates, a nationwide provider of pool distribution and store replenishment solutions. Gumro is based in the Detroit suburb of Auburn Hills, Michigan.

Amazon Air launched cargo operations in Maui and on Hawaii Island last week to help facilitate speedier deliveries for Prime customers.
