Air Lubrication System for Cheap and Clean Shipping Iron

Tiny bubbles are the latest hope for bringing down fuel costs and emissions along the more than 13,000-nautical mile journey from Brazilian iron ore mines to steel mills in China.
Installation of the system in the first ship in China took 35 days and cost Vale $5 million.
If testing is successful, the company may install air lubrication in its entire contracted fleet, possibly sharing costs with owners.

Neoline Signs LoI for First Wind Propelled Cargo Ship

Neoline, a French shipowner offering carbon-free shipping services, has signed a letter of intent (LOI) with compatriot company Neopolia Mobility for the construction of Neoline’s first 136-meter sailing cargo ship, reads the company press release.

As informed, the project is now in the financial closure phase with the objective of starting construction this summer, aiming for commissioning in the first half of 2024.

Shipping Industry Unveils ‘Fuel Cell Project’ To Reduce Emissions

New and flexible fuel cell technology can reduce emissions from shipping by 40 to 100%.
Partners from shipping, R&D and oil and gas are now constructing a pilot system that can use different types of fuel.
The system will first be tested at the Sustainable Energy catapult centre in Norway before installation on board a chemical tanker.
