Hirschbach Motor Lines acquires fellow refrigerated carrier Lessors

Hirschbach expands its temperature-controlled operations

Refrigerated carrier Hirschbach Motor Lines announced Wednesday that it has acquired Eagan, Minnesota-based carrier Lessors Inc.

The acquisition of Lessors, also a temperature-controlled operator with approximately 200 drivers and nearly 300 power units, brings the Hirschbach fleet to 2,400 drivers and owner-operators and more than 3,500 trailers.

Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Lessors was represented by Transport Capital Partners.

Trucker a Highway Angel for rescuing family after spinout

The Truckload Carriers Association (TCA) has named Demetrius Fields a Highway Angel. Fields, an Atlanta resident, stopped to help a family after their vehicle spun out in the middle of a busy highway during a severe winter storm.

Fields was heading through Pennsylvania on Dec. 16 as a strong snowstorm was closing in. He was on his way to Indiana as Pennsylvania road crews were preparing to close the interstates as conditions got worse.

Disaster relief trucking organization delivers hope to survivors

Truckers hauling natural disaster relief supplies

Long-haul trucker Shelli Conaway has logged over 3 million miles in her nearly 30-year trucking career and also coordinates disaster relief efforts from the cab of her truck.

Conaway of Lexington, Kentucky, runs a nonprofit group called Trucks with Room to Spare.  Her group delivers critical supplies, including tarps, food and ice, to those hardest hit by natural disasters in the U.S.
