The Seattle-based Coast Guard Cutter Polar Star arrived in Dutch Harbor, Alaska, on Tuesday. The ship made a logistics stop 30 days into a monthslong Arctic deployment to protect the nation’s maritime sovereignty and security throughout the polar region.

Aurora Australis departs for its last voyage

The Australian Government reported that the final voyage for Australia’s Antarctic icebreaker RSV Aurora Australis began, as the vessel departed from Hobart for sub-Antarctic Macquarie Island.

The vessel will conduct its last trip which will be a two-week voyage to resupply Macquarie Island and transport expeditioners.

Finland, Sweden ink agreement for next-gen icebreakers

The Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency (FTIA) and the Swedish Maritime Administration (Sjöfartsverket) inked a cooperation agreement for the design of the next generation of icebreakers.
