Truck parking in Texas, Louisiana gets $33.5M boost from DOT

The U.S. Department of Transportation has awarded a combined $33.5 million to build new truck parking facilities in Texas and Louisiana as project sponsors find ways around a lack of dedicated funding pools for such projects.

A truck travel plaza in Caldwell County, Texas, was awarded $23 million from DOT’s Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) program, a competitive grant program used to fund freight and passenger transportation projects.

Feds award $275 million to ease truck congestion

Highway expansion projects aimed at improving the flow of truck freight in seven parts of the country will collect roughly $275 million from federal coffers in the latest round of discretionary grants awards.

The projects account for approximately 30% of the $905 million awarded through the U.S. Department of Transportation’s (DOT) 2021 Infrastructure for Rebuilding America (INFRA) grants, which were also awarded to port and rail projects.

Port Tampa Bay slices warehouse operator’s payments

The coronavirus pandemic has spoiled a chunk of the fruit import business in the United States. Because of that decline, Port Tampa Bay’s board this week took a big slice out of a refrigerated warehouse tenant’s monthly payments.

The board on Tuesday agreed to defer a $25,000 monthly loan payment for seven years and drop rent from $31,000 a month to 5% of revenues once those hit $5 million annually.
