Delays at Inland Container Depot in Nairobi

The long duration that it takes to clear cargo from the Inland Container Depot (ICD) in Nairobi is becoming a headache for truckers offering last mile connection, bringing the efficiency of the standard gauge railway into question.

Whereas it takes about five hours to ferry cargo from Mombasa to the ICD in Embakasi, it takes over 24 hours to clear the consignment at the depot.

Dry Port development efforts in Thailand

UDON THANI – Efforts are under way to push for an inland container depot (ICD), known in the shipping industry as “a dry port”, to be developed in the northeastern province.

On Wednesday (Jan. 2), a panel set up by the provincial governor held its first meeting to draw up a proposal for the project. The meeting was chaired by deputy governor Sithichai Chindaluang and attended by various agencies, representatives from the private sector, academics and investors in the provincial industrial estate.
