Forwarders slam Maersk: ‘moving from supplier to becoming a competitor’

Major forwarders may abandon Maersk over concerns that the line’s new “integrated” business and “aggressive” strategy creates conflict of interests, and that it wants to cut forwarders from its business.
DB Schenker confirmed to The Loadstar that it had lost key account status with the shipping line, but said it had switched most of its volumes.
“In May 2020, DB Schenker removed more than 90% of the freight volume loaded at Maersk, and shifted …

Monday rant: Why DSV & DP DHL, ‘unexpectedly’ and shamelessly, raise the bar high

Picking the right fights is a hard thing to do, but some are so obvious that even my nine-year-old boy, Matteo, would know where to look.

For the occasional reader, it’s easy to forget that, according to Transport Intelligence trailing data, UPS is one of the top five freight forwarders in air (it ranks fifth by volumes) while closely lagging the top 15 in the rankings in ocean …

Cosco chief slams rivals’ plans to be ‘end-to-end’ supply chain providers

China Cosco Shipping executive vice president Wang Haimin has rubbished the idea that carriers can be sole service providers of end-to-end container supply chains.
Mr Wang (pictured) drew comparison between competitors Maersk and CMA CGM’s push to become fully integrated container logistics providers and, at the other end of the spectrum, MSC and Hapag-Lloyd’s apparent focus on pure port-to-port shipping.
“Cosco is somewhere in the middle,” he told delegates at the TPM …
